How to treat sunburned feet?

How to treat sunburned feet?

Summer is here and with the temperature heating up we are taking advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor life, sunbathing, picnics, and other activities!

You must be aware that one should be using sunscreen while going to the beach or spending time in the sun, however, do you know that even your feet need to be taken care of?

Excessive exposure to the sun can harm any exposed part of your body, including your feet.  The sole of your feet may be shielded from the sun, but when we walk barefoot, our toes and feet absorb a lot of sunlight.

If you expose your feet to the sun, you may be unable to stroll or wear footwear without any pain. Thankfully, we are here to advise you on aspects of foot health, like sunburns!

Keep yourself hydrated

Stay hydrated by drinking lots of fluids. Sunburn can cause dehydration by pulling water from the cells. Make sure you're drinking enough water to keep your hydration level up.

Soak your feet in cold water

Fill a small tub with chilled water to make a cool water foot bath. Soak your feet for 10 minutes.  Pat your feet dry. To prevent dryness, use a moisturizer. Do not use ice in the water. Water that is excessively cold might cause dryness.

Reduce turbulence

Wear shoes as little as possible in the first several days after getting a sunburn. Shoes can add friction and pressure to the skin, and slows down the healing process.

When you must wear shoes, opt for open-toed shoes. If the straps on your sandals are too tight, loosen them.

Use Aloe Vera gel

Aloe Vera Gel is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Apply Aloe vera gel on the affected part of your feet and let your skin soak the gel. Aloe vera gel has the tendency to cure sunburns and dry skin.

You can try LuxaDerme Foot Hydration Socks which are formulated with Pentavitin® and Neurolight.61 G, and botanicals such as Shea Butter and Safflower Seed Oil, these foot socks will instantly hydrate and nourish your dry and sunburned feet.
